Policies that protect and strengthen Tennessee’s farmers are in the best interest of all of us. No family should have to worry about the crushing burden of taxes taking away all they have honestly worked for when they pass it on to future generations. Today, many family farms do not survive because the government’s “share” is too expensive and forces the family to sell.

 

All Americans should feel secure in their rights as property owners. Abuse of eminent domain laws by government in the drive to improperly seize private property is never right and I will fight it. It is especially wrong when it happens to our small farms and farm families.

 

As with small business and our workers, the first question that must be asked is does it serve the best interest of the people it affects. Sound policies that help our small and family farms are always in the best interest of Tennessee.
