Reducing Taxes and Spending
Liberal policies have placed the freedom of future generations in danger.

It is no secret that Washington spending is out of control. Politicians seized on the 2008 economic downturn to launch the greatest expansion of government spending and interference in generations. The debt burden on the United States now approaches $40,000 for every man, woman and child in America. In September of 2008, China became the single largest owner of United States debt, holding $1 of every $10 we owe. Responsible members of both parties must stand up and say “no more.”

Our government has acted irresponsibly in the way it has handled your money. To fix this problem, government must first look to itself, not your wallet. There must be a new commitment to spending taxpayer money wisely and cutting wasteful pet projects. I will lead the fight to rip these pork spending items out of the budget, page by page and line by line if necessary. Washington politicians must learn that we are not their personal piggy bank.

When dealing with the explosion in government spending, we all know what the first Washington answer will be – more taxes. We are taxed from the day we are born until, and after, we die. As your Congressman, I will fight to keep your money in your hands and reign in wild government spending.

My priority is getting rid of the IRS tax code as we know it. There are a lot of good ideas on how to replace it. Some people like the consumption tax. Some like the Flat Tax. There are good arguments for both. Instead of fighting about those, we as conservatives need to unite in working to repeal the current unfair IRS code.

I am the only candidate in this race calling for an end to the practice of "earmarking" spending whereby Washington politicians avoid accountability for the ways they spend our money. We must return to the proper methods through the appropriate committees to fund projects and agencies so the public has full view of the appropriations process. Unless we do, trust in government will continue to erode.

I am proud that my consistent stands for economic freedom have earned me the endorsement of Club for Growth. In endorsing my campaign, Club for Growth recognizes I am the tested fighter and partner they need to immediately tackle these critical issues.

Getting control of spending and restoring sound economic policy is not just a matter of good domestic policy, it is a matter of national security.
