I believe in leaving our world a better place than we found it. Part of leaving a better world for our children is living up to our responsibility to be good stewards of the environment. Here in East Tennessee, we are blessed with some of the most beautiful country in America, including the Ocoee River, the hills of Claiborne County as well as the ridges of Hamilton County where I hike and Chickamauga Lake where I enjoy kayaking. It is crucial that we protect the land, water and air.

 

With the rise in radical environmentalism, we have seen a push by Washington liberals and their special interest allies to place their agenda above the needs of hard working families with job-killing schemes such as the national energy tax,“Cap and Trade.” We can be environmentally responsible and save jobs if we work with business instead of placing more government and tax burden on the people who create those jobs. Presenting this issue as either/or gives Tennesseans a false choice. We have the talent and ingenuity to protect the environment and working families.
