As a Congressman I will work with the gifted technicians and scientists at the Oak Ridge National Labs and the Y-12 Facility to shape our future and make us less dependent on foreign sources of energy. Tennessee is blessed to have these facilities and the Tennessee Valley Authority as partners in the work of making America more energy self-sufficient. We must be open to all new ideas and resources to gain energy independence.

 

As we work toward creating new and renewable sources of energy, we must have a government that is willing to utilize our available American resources to strengthen our economy and keep costs down. In 2008, as Chairman of the Tennessee Republican Party, I joined with leaders across the country to endorse the “Drill Here, Drill Now, Pay Less” campaign led by Newt Gingrich and American Solutions. 1.5 million Americans came together to demand that Congress look to safe clean resources here before we continue to fatten the wallets of dictators and countries who don't share our values and harbor terrorists.

 

I am determined to take that same commitment to safe clean American energy to Washington.
