Creating a Strong Economy
American capitalism and free markets are the bedrock of our way of life.

Today we have a Congress and a president more hostile to the foundations of American capitalism than at any time in generations. Few of us probably ever believed we would see a day where private companies would have the Federal government as their majority owner or would see a president firing the heads of corporations.

I do not believe in bailouts for private companies. After billions of dollars in our tax money thrown into General Motors, the company that was “too big to fail” filed for bankruptcy after all. The Obama “stimulus” of uncontrolled government borrowing and spending has plunged our nation into a bottomless pit of debt that will take decades to repay and the American people have rightfully begun to say “enough is enough.”

Our government must live as you and I do – within our budget. Adding more taxes and more regulation on small business will only kill prosperity and job growth. Our economic recovery will come from the hard work of Tennesseans and people across the nation, not from more wasteful government spending.

As a small business owner and working mom, I understand what it takes to live within your means and watch the bottom line. There are too many members of Congress who have forgotten that the core of American success is the genius and work of its people. Returning common sense conservative solutions to our economy will be my highest priority.
