Issues: A Trillion Here, A Trillion There...
August 22nd, 2009
As the president left for his vacation Friday, the White House announced their deficit forecast for the next ten years will be revised up from $7 trillion to $9 trillion. For hard working Tennesseans, these staggering numbers are tough to get our arms around. But one thing we do know is they prove that the America we love has lost its way when it comes to fiscal responsibility and national priorities.
Into this horrific mix of out of control spending and liberal experimentation, Barack Obama and Nancy Pelosi still insist on adding a trillion dollar takeover of America’s health care system. Tennesseans have watched over the course of this year as car companies were purchased with taxpayer money and turned over to labor unions. We have watched as stacks of borrowed cash were thrown about without regard to the long term damage to our economy. We watch in amazement as China becomes the single largest owner of United States debt and still liberals turn their nose up in disgust and insult good patriotic Americans for daring to speak out against their agenda. Members of Congress return home, hear the real concerns of their constituents then go back to Washington and keep right on piling up debt. As your congressman, I will stand against the radical expansion of government and the reckless waste of your money. As I have said, it’s not just a matter of fiscal responsibility, it’s a matter of national security.
When people ask why I’m running for Congress, the answer is easy. This spending insanity must stop. It will be impossible to reclaim the traditions of our nation if we continue to sell our future in another Treasury auction.
