HIXSON, July 27 - Robin Smith, candidate for Congress in
Tennessee's Third
Congressional District, announced today that Oscar Brock has agreed to serve as
her campaign treasurer.
Oscar Brock is a native of
Chattanooga and resides on
Lookout
Mountain with his wife and two daughters.
He is the son of former United States Senator Bill Brock. In addition to more
than twenty-five years working in
Tennessee politics and holding prominent roles
in state and national campaigns, he currently serves as the Tennessee Republican
Party State Executive Committeeman for the 10th State Senate District and is the
immediate past Treasurer of the state party. He graduated from
Stanford
University with a degree in economics and
received his Master in Business Administration from Vanderbilt.
Brock has represented
Tennessee as a delegate at the 1988, 2004 and
2008 Republican National Conventions, including serving on the Contests and
Credentials Committee for the 2008 convention. He is a member of the Chattanooga
Rotary Club, and serves on the boards of the Chattanooga Red Cross and the Hand
Foundation. He is an active member of the Church of the Good Shepherd, and is a
past president of the Chattanooga Jaycees.
"When Robin Smith asked me to join her team, I agreed
without hesitation," Brock said. "She is the singular candidate in this race
with the understanding of the needs of the Third District and the candidate with
the courage of her convictions to best represent all East Tennesseans in
Washington."
Smith welcomed Brock to the campaign and noted his
history of leadership. "Oscar Brock brings a high level of passion and integrity
to every cause he supports. I am honored that he would agree to lend his
valuable time and considerable talents to our effort. His addition to the Smith
team further demonstrates my commitment to call upon accomplished leaders to
build the strongest campaign possible, allowing us to carry our message of
common sense conservative solutions across the Third
District."
