Smith Announces Harold and Lill Coker to Serve as Hamilton County Chairs
HIXSON July 20 – Third District Congressional Candidate Robin Smith today announced that Harold and Lill Coker will serve as Hamilton County Co-Chairs for her campaign.
During a speech to the weekly Republican Pachyderm Club meeting, Smith announced that Mr. and Mrs. Coker have agreed to serve as her co-chairs and acknowledged their service to the people of
HamiltonCounty.“I am honored that the Cokers have agreed to bring their community, state and national leadership to this campaign”, Smith said. “I believe the problems our nation faces will not be solved in Washington, but by people who lead by example. Harold and Lill Coker are shining examples of community leadership that produces results.”
Harold Coker has long been respected in business and in the community. He founded the Coker Tire Company and served on the Hamilton County Commission for twenty years, with three terms as Chairman.
While on the
CountyCommission he was a highway safety advocate, receiving the Liberty Bell award given by the Chattanooga Bar Association. He and Lill were honored for their efforts to get impaired drivers off the road. He has championed ridding the blight of pornography in the community having led an effort several years ago that removed 98-99 percent of the X rated shops in the community.
Lill Coker is the recipient of numerous community awards forher service in improving safety on our roads, promoting the removal of establishments that traffic in pornography, as a leader in her church and has received appointments to boards by then Governor Lamar Alexander. She is a past representative of
Tennessee on the Republican National Committee and a member of the 1992 Republican National Convention Platform Committee. Mr. and Mrs. Coker are the parents of three children and have seven grandchildren.
