Robin Smith Condemns Obama Lawsuit Against Arizona
HIXSON, JULY 6 – Third District Congressional Candidate Robin Smith condemned today’s action by the Obama Justice Department against the State of Arizona. The Department of Justice filed suit in U.S. District Court in Phoenix, seeking to overturn the law passed by the Arizona state government that would strengthen enforcement of existing immigration regulations. The Arizona law is in response to the federal government’s failure to fulfill its duty to secure and protect the nation’s borders. “Today’s action is a mistake and represents a sad moment for our nation,” Smith said. “By launching this suit, we now have confirmation of a fact many of us have long suspected. This President is less concerned with the law than with politics. This administration has no credibility when it comes to border security and now seeks to punish the only government entity that is working valiantly to do the job his government refuses to do. This action runs counter to the rule of law, to American values and ends the myth that Barack Obama has any intention of sealing the border. Instead, he advocates amnesty for illegal immigrants and ignores, once again, the call of Americans demanding action. I join the vast majority of Americans in standing with Governor Jan Brewer and the people of Arizona in their struggle against the flood of illegal immigrants coming over their border and an intrusive federal government that has failed in its responsibility. With a new conservative Congress, we will get control of the border and deal with the problem of illegal immigration once and for all.”
