Robin Smith Endorsed by the United States Chamber of Commerce
HIXSON, JUNE 23 – Declaring its goal “to help elect a pro-business Congress and work diligently in the interests of businesses large and small to advance legislation that encourages economic growth, job creation, and a less intrusive federal government,” the United States Chamber of Commerce today awarded one of the most coveted and crucial endorsements of the 2010 campaign to Third District Congressional Candidate Robin Smith. “This is a tremendous development for our campaign,” Smith said. There is no more important name in this nation when it comes to defense of the free market and standing up for the rights of business owners than the U.S. Chamber of Commerce. With this endorsement there is no longer a question which candidate in the Third District has the support of conservative groups, individuals and advocates of the values that make America great. Organizations such as the Chamber are looking for men and women who will stand in opposition to the Obama/Pelosi assault on our free market and capitalist foundations. My record is the one they have decided matches their agenda and I am proud to have their support. “No issue concerns our people as does the lack of good jobs in America. Since the implementation of President Obama’s “stimulus” package, Tennessee has lost more than 50,000 jobs. It’s time to return to the principle that American entrepreneurial success is the foundation of our economy. I will stand with the membership of the Chamber each and every day in the struggle to turn our nation back onto a path that creates real jobs at good wages and gives enterprising Tennesseans the opportunity to build their own American dream.” In a letter to Smith confirming their endorsement, U.S. Chamber of Commerce President Thomas J. Donohue stated, “Your support of pro-business issues earned this endorsement.” Donohue urged the business community to “vigorously support” Smith’s campaign. The U.S. Chamber of Commerce joins the Club for Growth, Susan B. Anthony List, Concerned Women for America, The Family Research Council and Eagle Forum as the sixth major national organization to endorse Smith’s campaign.
