Robin Smith Joins Effort to Defeat Chattanooga Tax Increase
HIXSON, JUNE 15 – Third District Congressional Candidate Robin Smith today threw her support and efforts behind the effort to oppose the proposed 33 percent tax increase for Chattanooga property owners. In doing so, she joins diverse groups such as the Chattanooga Tea Party, The Chattanooga Association of Realtors as well as the Hamilton County Republican and Democrat parties in their opposition. “Today I am directing my campaign to put resources, including advocacy phone calls, into the effort to inform Chattanoogans this is a bad proposal that will negatively impact our community,” Smith said. “From the federal to the local level, we must break our government of its spending addiction and change the thinking that says government is the solution to every problem. Taking a day to direct important campaign efforts to the betterment of the community is a sacrifice I’m willing to make.” Smith campaign manager Chris Meekins noted this action is consistent with her record of fighting for conservative causes and sound fiscal policy. “Robin Smith is doing what she’s always done, putting her community first. By the end of this effort, we expect to have made more that 5,000 phone calls to inform the citizens of Chattanooga about this proposal and call them to action in opposing it. This is yet another example of deeds over words. It’s easy to oppose something, but it’s a statement of commitment when you put time and resources into fighting for your beliefs. It’s the kind of leadership that will serve the Third District well in Congress.”
