Oak Ridge Mayor Pro Tem Jane Miller Endorses Smith
“Over the past several months, I have closely watched all of the candidates who are asking for our support,” Miller said. “I can say without question, Robin Smith has stood apart as the lone candidate showing unwavering commitment to all eleven counties of the Third District. She has been actively engaged with the Oak Ridge and Anderson county business communities. Robin has already established herself as a member and regular participant in the meetings of the East Tennessee Economic Council. She has worked with us on legislation that impacts both the Oak Ridge National Laboratories and Y-12 facilities in the State Legislature. If she can have a positive impact on the issues facing our community before she’s elected, I am convinced she will get results for Oak Ridge in Washington. She has already demonstrated her commitment to Anderson County in her work with us and she will again next week as she joins economic leaders from across the area to discuss issues important to Oak Ridge at the Tennessee Valley Corridor National Technology Summit in Washington, D.C.” Smith thanked Miller for her endorsement and noted the importance she has placed on representing the entire district. “Jane Miller has been a leader in the Oak Ridge community for years and she is the type of partner I will need when I go to Washington. Jane always puts Oak Ridge first and is respected throughout the area,” Smith said. “The fact is if you don’t see a candidate when they need your votes, you will never see them once they get elected. My commitment is to work for all eleven counties of the district to address their diverse needs. I will work to support the ground breaking innovation at Oak Ridge as well as the tomato farmer in Grainger County. Jane Miller understands that success for one part of our state means success for us all. I am grateful for her support and the support of so many business and community leaders in Oak Ridge. This area stands as a wonderful example of the results innovative minds can bring. It will be my honor to work with the leaders of this community, such as Jane Miller, to continue the great progress they have made.” |
