Smith Posts Largest Contribution Total of Campaign
HIXSON, APRIL 15 – Surpassing all previous quarterly standards by any candidate in the campaign for Tennessee’s Third District seat in Congress, Robin Smith today reported more than $159,000 raised in her most recent report to the Federal Election Commission. This quarter brings Smith’s total raised to $399,619. She reported receiving donations from more than 800 individual contributors to the campaign since entering the race on July 1, 2009. “Every day I am humbled and inspired by the faith people have shown in contributing to my campaign for Congress,” Smith said. “The average contribution I receive is less than $250. That’s a great statement from hard working Americans who have looked at the choices in this race and decided I am the person they believe will stand up for them in Washington. By digging into their wallets during tough economic times, they make a clear statement that they want someone who isn’t timid, who will make sure my deeds in Washington match my words on the trail and who isn’t an empty media package with no record of service. Each and every person who has donated to this effort has my deep thanks and my commitment to fight for all Tennesseans in Congress.” Campaign Treasurer Oscar Brock noted this is the third quarter in a row Smith has far outpaced her opponents in contributions from individuals. It is the second time in three quarters she has raised more than $100,000 – remaining the only candidate to surpass that mark in any reporting period. “Robin Smith has again proven she is the only complete conservative candidate in this race. Her viability is proven daily by her grassroots support, the support of organizations who champion the causes of pro-life, pro-family and true fiscal reform, the endorsements she has received from the county level to the national level, her record of working in the trenches and her ability to raise money. Her opponents in this race are pouring personal wealth into the campaign and misleading the voters by calling it ‘raised’ money in a cynical and wasted effort to convince Tennesseans they have anything more than lip service. Tennesseans know Robin Smith has a life of service and a record that validates the reason she’s the only viable candidate in the Third District. She is known to be authentic in her leadership and it shows in the number of people who have stepped forward to stand with her in this campaign.” |
