Honoring Y-12 Achievements
HIXSON, JAN 25 – Third District Congressional Candidate Robin Smith today extended congratulations to the leadership of Y-12 in Oak Ridge on the startup approval of the Highly Enriched Uranium Materials Facility by the National Nuclear Security Administration. “As the need expands for global non-proliferation while keeping our military prepared, Y-12 continues to be the world’s center of excellence for uranium. I congratulate President Darrell Kohlhorst and his team on this accomplishment. It is yet another example of the leadership they are providing to the entire nation in their field. All Tennesseans can be proud of the series of notable achievements by Y-12 and the Oak Ridge National Laboratory, but we are particularly proud of their achievements in the Third District. In November I was pleased to urge approval of the facility. In communication with NNSA, I stated, ‘The National Security Complex of Y-12 stands alone as a superior site with a trained and superior workforce readied for this mission.’ With their approval,NNSA has recognized the hard work and talent of the men and women of Y-12. They should all be very proud.” |
